Frisk Radio launches on Freeview! at Frisk Radio - The Rhythm of The North East
A local electrical retailer celebrates the arrival of Frisk Radio by re-tuning in-store TVs to the station's Freeview channel!

Following on from their DAB success in Tyneside, North East media start-up, Frisk Radio have expanded their range of listening platforms by launching on Freeview in the Tyne Tees region.

A logical expansion to cover the North East

Thanks to UK Radio Portal’s innovative programme guide, Frisk Radio can now be received by over 2.2 million adults across the Tyne Tees region, from Wooler in the North, through Morpeth, Hexham, Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham, Stockton, Middlesbrough, as far South as Thirsk and Whitby.

Frisk Radio’s director Stuart Landreth explained the move:

Going on Freeview was a no-brainer for us!

We’ve received feedback from fans all over the region and beyond who can’t wait for us to be more accessible in their area.

UKRP’s platform has allowed us to broadcast “Radio with Pictures” on Freeview at a very affordable price point.

As the stream is delivered over IP, we can monitor the viewing figures and feed these back to our sponsors and advertisers who are keen to exploit this new opportunity.

Frisk Radio goes live on Freeview

After a few days testing, Frisk Radio launched on Saturday 1st October, on Freeview channel 277 in the Tyne Tees region, with local presenter Kev Laws heading up a special weekend breakfast show to celebrate the achievement.
